Shake the Sugar Tree

Okay, that title is a bit of a stretch. See if you can figure it out by the end of the post.

First, I want to say that I'm leaving the invitation for healthy recipes open. Or healthy tips. I'm always looking for those.

Second, we're having another unconventional post today.

I've been kicking around a zillion different ideas for this week's post. Or maybe two or three. Some were really great post topics, others were just so-so, but nothing felt right. So, I knelt down and cleared my mind to try to really open up for inspiration and here's what came to me.

It's brain storming time!

I want you to share your ideas for a post. As always, you are more than welcome to guest blog about your ideas. But if you don't have the time or desire to do that, please share them with me and allow me to have a go.

We've kind of been slacking off in the comment area lately. I know everyone is busy because it's summer. Maybe I'm typing this for no one. But if you are reading this, then please, leave at least one post idea. Please? Remember, you can comment anonymously, if you're not comfortable having your idea attached to you.

I will be AWOL the next two weeks. My sweet little sis has kindly written up another excellent post for next week. Yay! Anyone interested in sending something for the following week, please send it to the email. abidingjoyblog@gmail.com Thanks!

Why not post on the every early days of sisterhood. You know the ones that are cute and only embarrassing to your parents. Like if you did let the puppy sleep in your bed type. Or who really ate the cookies. Those memories are wonderful and also let any children see their parents really did start out as kids.

Ideas? I am super bad at this.
Have you read "The last lecture"?
I love that book and mainly I love what he says about accomplishing dreams. I tried living by it for a while and it made my life richer. It is more of along term thing but the book is amazing, you can also hear his lecture on you tube is by Randy Pausch.

Maybe fun things to do on a cheap budget? I think sometimes money frustrates me because I want to do fun things and have stuff to look forward to but I can't spend tons o money.

Or maybe little service ideas that you can do that don't take a lot of time or money either.

I can't remember if you've already done this one, but my idea is how spending time with family brings joy. Not just time, though, meaningful time, the kind where you actually talk and listen to eachother, get to know eachother more. So maybe share ideas on activities that would be conducive to that goal.
Also, there's that booklet put out by the church, called, "3 Simple Ways to Have a Happier Family", and it's got some good ideas on how to find joy as a family. If you don't have it, then let me know, and maybe I'll write something for you on it, if you think it fits what you want on this blog.
And by the way, I really appreciate you doing this blog. You do a great job with it.

Doing the simple things (read, pray, etc) allow the Lord to bless us as much as He can. Sometimes I think we sell ourselves short of His blessings by being lazy.

My grandma and I had a conversation about opening your heart. She was saying that at any given moment our hearts are either opened or closed. When their closed we feel anxious and fearful, when they're open we feel hopeful, strong, compassionate. i wish i knew how to scribe this better.

How about how to help others feel joy? I've had people say some pretty stupid stuff over the past few weeks about my hubby me. It gets frustrating hearing others telling me all the negative that may come because of the decisions they have made (based on what they have seen in other's lives).

On the other hand, I've had some wonderful people who have listened to it all and are encouraging, noticing the good things we are trying to do. It would be so much nicer if everyone would just have faith that other people are living their lives in accordance to how they have been prompted too.

Another idea would be talking about how we still can find joy, even when our lives don't go according to what we had planned. Finding joy in doing His will, instead of our own.

Thanks for all your doing Cheryl. I really do enjoy reading these. Sorry I don't comment very often.
