Day 552: Rare Sights

There's a small town in South Dakota named Sturgis.  I'm not sure if anything else happens there, but every year in early August they have a big motorcycle rally.  So, everywhere we went there were hundreds and hundreds of motorcycles and their riders.

It was seriously, really cool.

So, I had to do this:

My heart was pounding and I was all shaky from nerves after asking him for a photo, but I couldn't miss the opportunity!  And getting this was actually a Joyful Moment.

Then we went to Wall Drug.  Hard to explain if you've never been there.  I think I would have enjoyed this much more had we not been 11 days out on our trip and the kids not so crazy and whiny.

But then we entered the Badlands.  Just an awe inspiring experience.  It's so beautiful and amazingly untouched.  HH continued our streak of personal encounters with the wildlife by nearly stepping on a rattlesnake.  He didn't let anyone do too much exploring outside of the car after that.

This is just one of the many many photos we took of the amazing views.  So much better in person though!

Wishing you all Joyful Moments that you get to experience in person!

You totally would have been one of those pioneers that stopped to have someone draw a picture of you and a MT. Man together on the plains....YOU ARE TOO FUNNY! I love and miss you. Good times.

It still makes me think of Norm. He had a motorcycle when I first met him and he dressed up as a Mountain Man for a Boy Scout camp out one time to go talk about the Pony Express Trail.

You bring up some nice memories.
Thank you!

You'll have to ask your aunt Kathy about her trips to Sturgis with Jim... Actually, maybe you shouldn't. I'll leave it at that.
